One of my
favorite songs is “American Wedding” by Frank Ocean. I think this song was very
well thought out and has so much meaning because Frank tells a story about how teenage
marriages end badly. He basically says that American weddings always end up in
a divorce and they are never happy marriages. In a part of his song he says, “it’s an American wedding/they
don’t mean too much/but we were so in love”, which tells a story about how even
though they know it’s just an American wedding and that it’ll end anyway, they
don’t care because they believe that they are in love. I think this song is
very meaningful because it’s so true. American weddings are never fully thought
out. They are always rushed and no one is ever really “in love” anymore when
they get married. Usually people get married only because they are lonely; they
are into a person because of their money, or to get papers. There are very few
couples out there that are married because they truly love each other, and that
to me is very sad. It also saddens me when couples complain about their
marriage every day, like if you knew what you were getting yourself into, why
did you get married. There are gay people in some states and countries that are
actually in love that WISH they could get married, and people still despise them
for it. In my opinion, I believe if anyone is truly in love with each other
they should be able to get married regardless of their race, color of skin, or
sexual orientation.
If I could start my career now, I would
have to know which privileges I would have now in order to start my career.
Would I have enough money to buy a camera? Would I know all the fundamentals of
photography and how the camera works? Would I instantly because a famous
photographer right now? If I could have all of that now, I don’t think I would attend
Columbia because it would probably be a waste of money if I already had my
career together, but then again I would want a college degree. But to be honest
I don’t think that would be possible. If I could start my career now but not
know any of the fundamentals then yes I would still probably go to Columbia to
gain the knowledge from my professors and experience the college life. I think
if I did just start my career right away without a college degree I might run
into problems like getting a job working on photo shoots, maybe designers or
models that I shoot for would want me to know a special kind of way of taking a
picture of them or maybe they would just feel comfortable to know that I have a
college degree, so it would probably be a good idea to get some kind of
education.
gotta love music with an actual purpose or message behind it
