My perspective on the bridge program: Mario Thompson
Before attending the 2012 summer bridge program,
my expectations where that it would be very challenging and boring. To be honest
I didn’t really want to go because school during my summer vacation sounded
like a terrible idea. I eventually got used to the idea of attending the
program. My first day was kind of a blur to me because it went by so fast, but I
still remember most of it. I actually enjoyed my first day of bridge because
everything seemed so laid back. Every single one of the instructors I have
encountered so far has an amazing personality. I also like the vibe I get from
being down town because there is so much going on all the time. My expectations
that I had before attending bridge were partly true. The program is somewhat
challenging (mainly because of homework), but I wouldn’t exactly call it
boring. The things we did weren’t exciting, but they kept my mind racing.
Everything here makes me think about something. I love when my mind is
constantly working because that’s where I get my creative sparks from. If I could
change one thing about bridge I would probably make it end a little earlier
because I was exhausted after my first day. While attending bridge I hope to
learn new things and meet new people. I also plan to show the instructors what I
am capable of, and that Columbia College Chicago is the place for me. If I complete
the bridge program I will be one step closer to accomplishing my goals and
ambitions.
