   Their Notes Influence Us

                 Although we like to think we think completely for ourselves, the music we listen to have a

huge influence on the way we act, think, & and even speak. The terms "Lets get crunk", & "I shake

life" are commonly used by teens of today's society. Being a student you've probably use a term like

this because it a popular song or saying. Unfortunately music could also promote gang violence &

drug use. Personally I'm influenced by who the artist is & the content of their music.

           
               I take very greatly to the sound of Chrisette Michelle. Her voice is very unique & as i

dancer i like smooth up beat music. She's real with every word she sings, & the way she sings it

makes you feel like you personally know how she feels. I could put her CD in or listen to her album

anywhere i go because she has at least one song for every emotion you could possibly feel. If I'm sad

& i just want to cheer up a little i could just flip the track and listen to her doo-daas to up lift my

spirit.

        
                Every time I listen to her music i feel the need to move. Her voice is more of a stress

reliever  for me. I could stretch & warm up to her slow tempo rhythms & get my blood rushing & go

into a full out dance to a rap song she may be featured in. I didn't know about her as an artist until i

went to Maxwell concert & she did the opening act for him . As soon as i heart her raspy soulful

voice i just got this feeling that i had to get her CD. I had been so moved by this new artist that i had

forgotten about the main performance.

          
               Me as an inexperienced teen, i took on her advice as far as dating goes. I had this boyfriend

who would promise me the world but when it came down to keeping his word he always had an

excuse of why he couldn't act on it. I was down & disappointed one day cause i had got all dressed &

waited to go on a date. He called and canceled so i just put on my p.j.s laid down and listened to

Chrisette . This one track came one & she was basically saying don't say something and don't do it.

Mean what you say, "Its all in what you do." That lyric influenced me to text my boyfriend &

say ,"Its all in what you do." if you cant perform your promises we cant be together.

        
              What my idol artists say and do have a great impact on how i act & view the world. I feel its

like an elder in the family warning you about something so you don't have to experience the negative

affects of if. As well as showing you the results of hard work & success & the rewards of that.
